The wait for our Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ, can sometimes seem unbearable. Through tough times, we can start to wonder if he will ever return, let alone in our lifetime.

But now is NOT the time to give up, lose faith or stop believing the promise of our Heavenly Father.

2 Peter exhorts us to avoid false teachers, to look out for Christ’s return, and to stand fast.

We are told that “…in the last days scoffers will come…they will say ‘Where is this ‘coming’ he promised?’” (v3) These are the signs of the times.

We are also told that a day is like a thousand years to God. He isn’t slow in fulfilling his promise but is PATIENT with us “…not wanting anyone to perish but everyone to come to repentance.” (v9)

So now IS the time to look to our Bibles; books such as Daniel and Revelation are full of prophecy, already largely fulfilled, that points clearly to the happenings of the last days. We need only look around us to see God’s words being fulfilled.

In the final chapters of Revelation, John sees “a new heaven and a new earth”, a vision of unrivalled joy and magnificence – We fervently pray for and look forward to our Lord’s return.
